DC NationThe CW, which is currently airing “Arrow” and “The Flash” and is set to premiere “iZombie” on March 17, is considering adding two more DC Comics-based shows to its lineup. “Vixen” is described as an animated series set in the same continuity as “Arrow” and “The Flash.” It follows a supermodel who can “imitate the power of any animal.” The show will premiere this fall on The CW’s Seed website, but is expected to make the leap to TV shortly after that. The CW is also considering spinning Brandon Routh’s Atom character off from “Arrow.” CW president Mark Pedowitz, speaking at the Television Critics Association Winter Press tour, said the the spin-off was “in preliminary discussion.” The spin-off, if it happens, isn’t likely to hit the airwaves until 2016. Add to that the likely renewal of NBC’s “Constantine” and the hit status of FOX’ “Gotham,” and DC Comics is poised to rule the airwaves for several seasons to come.Who Saw This Coming?Some 13 years after the movie hit theaters, FOX has officially ordered a pilot for a “Minority Report” TV series. The 2002 film was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Tom Cruise as a police officer in a future in which crimes are solved by “precognitives” before they happen. It was loosely based on a story by Philip K. Dick. According to Variety, the drama is set 10 years after the events of the film and will “center on one of three precogs who’s struggling to lead a normal life because he’s haunted by visions of the future. He may find purpose to his gift after meeting a detective haunted by her past.” FOX is allegedly dumping big money into the project after several other networks expressed interest. It’s lined up to air in the 2015/16 season.More BiteFilmmaker Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim) is reportedly working on a new genre TV series titled “Carnival Row.” The series is set in a steampunk Victorian era where fairies are being hunted by a vampiric serial killer. (So, “True Blood” with corsets?) The project, penned by Pacific Rim’s Travis Beacham, was originally designed as a film—titled A Killing on Carnival Row. But del Toro has been unable to get it off the ground. So he sold it to Amazon Instant Video as a “limited series.” No word on when it might hit the service—and considering the number of unfinished projects orbiting del Toro (At The Mountains of Madness, Justice League Dark, Pacific Rim 2), perhaps it’s best not to hold our breath. Here’s hoping it turns out better than del Toro’s other vampire TV series “The Strain” over on FX, though. Beacham recently wrote and created the pilot of FOX’ ambitious ancient Egyptian adventure series “Hieroglyph”—which was shot here in Albuquerque last summer, but dumped by the network before it ever aired.
