Somebody finally came up with a punny new title for a televised singing competition, so we can finally squeeze another one on the air.“The Shannara Chronicles” (MTV 11pm) MTV—of all places—tries to go the “Game of Thrones” route with this fantasy-filled adaptation of Terry Brooks’ popular book series about magic swords, elfstones and warlock lords. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (who gave us “Smallville” and “Into the Badlands”) are the ones who conjured it up.Wednesday 6“People’s Choice Awards 2016” (KRQE-13 8pm) Jane Lynch hosts this show handing out awards to a bunch of already incredibly popular people.
