In a series of paintings that goes on display this week at the Yale Art Center (1001 Yale SE), Joy Davidson has created an entire petting zoo of disturbing creatures. Titled Everything's Fine, Davidson's one-woman show presents a blissfully kitschy selection of work that might make you smile but might also leave you feeling slightly unsettled. Albuquerque's groovin' world music band Wagogo knows how to get people dancing. It's a gift bestowed on them by God. This Saturday, March 5, at the South Broadway Cultural Center (1025 Broadway SE), they'll be putting that divine gift to use once again in a music and dance concert performed in collaboration with the Blue Tribe Dance Company and UNM's Rhythm Cartel. The show will mix traditional African rhythms with urban step. The party starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 general, $8 students/seniors, $3 kids. Ballet Theatre of New Mexico explores terrain located well beyond the borders of traditional ballet in two performances this weekend at the KiMo Theatre (423 Central NW). Beyond the Classics features contemporary dance choreography by Celia Dale, Katherine Giese, Hannah Lagerway and Amber Vasquez performed by the company's talented dancers. The show will run Saturday, March 5, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 6, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 to $20 with a $2 discount for seniors, kids and college students.
