The fan-fave star of “Firefly” stars as a TV actor who once starred in a popular sci-fi series and now makes his living touring the science fiction convention circuit. Needless to say, this is loosely inspired by Tudyk’s real life.Sunday 10“The Orville” (KRQEDT-2 6pm) Tiring, perhaps, of cartoons, creator/star Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy,” ”The Cleveland Show,” “American Dad!”) takes the helm on this live-action spoof of “Star Trek”-like space adventures.“The Deuce” (HBO 7pm) HBO’s newest series dramatizes the legitimization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York’s Times Square in the early 1970s. James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal head the cast for creator/writer George Pelecanos (“The Wire,” “Treme”)“Top of the Lake: China Girl” (Sundance 10pm) For the second season of Sundance’s indie Aussie crime-solving series (created by Oscar winner Jane Campion), Detective Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss from “Mad Men”) heads back to Sydney only to become embroiled in an investigation involving the body of an Asian woman that washes up on Bondi Beach.Monday 11“I Am Frankie” (Nickelodeon 5:30pm) An experimental teenage android, freshly escaped from the evil tech company that built her, hides out in high school for some wacky, sitcom-ish adventures. Somehow, this is not a sequel to “Small Wonder.”Tuesday 12“According to Chrisley” (USA 8:32pm) Evidently Todd Chrisley, the patriarch on USA’s docureality series “Chrisley Knows Best” is so fascinating that USA has given him his own late-night talk show. Not bad, considering his only previous accomplishment was spawning a whole bunch of kids (seemingly the only criteria for landing your own cable TV reality show). His first guest? Wrestler Chris Jericho. This is what I call appointment television.Wednesday 13“Are You the One? Audition Tape Casting Special” (MTV 11pm) MTV’s dating show uses in-depth interviews, compatibility testing and complex dating algorithms to choose the perfect mates for people—then sticks them all in a camera-filled mansion in Hawaii for two weeks, just like every other reality dating show on TV.
