Rave On!—Honorary Albuquerque citizen Richard Griffin (director of zombified social satire Feeding the Masses and director of photography on legendary local gore-fest The Stink of Flesh) is currently in town to shoot Billy Garberina's multi-monstered horror comedy Necroville. Griffin is taking the opportunity to show off his latest directing effort, Raving Maniacs. The film–co-written by The Toxic Avenger IV: Citizen Toxie's Trent Haaga–concerns a group of hip, young people who find themselves confronted by a group of drug-addled, blood-crazed ghouls at an all-night rave. The film will screen one night only, April 29, at 10:30 p.m. at the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill. Griffin will be on hand to introduce the film and do a Q&A afterward. Fever Pitch—Got a screenplay, but don't know how to get it sold? Maybe the second annual Best Little Pitchfest in Texas can help. The screenwriting group Austin Unbound is using the event to bringing some of Hollywood's best behind-the-scenes talent to the Driskell Hotel in Austin, July 21 through 23. Top agents, managers and producers from Imagine Entertainment, Bender-Spink, Evolution Entertainment and others will provide lectures, workshops, panels and one-on-one mentoring during the weekend events. Not only will attendees get an opportunity to pitch their story ideas, but they'll be socializing with and learning from the very people they're pitching to. In addition, attendees may participate in the “First Couple of Pages Script Competition” by submitting a maximum of 15 pages of a completed script with their registration. Category winners will have their entire script read by Pitchfest faculty. Pitchfest is limited to 130 Hollywood hopefuls. Cost is $250 for the three days.
