Thursday 5

“Jackpot! Inside America's Lottery Winners” (Discovery 8 p.m.) Why is it that multimillion dollar lottery winners always seem to end up drunk, broke and fighting over their last 10 bucks in court? Perhaps this new documentary will give us some insight.

Cinco de Mayo (TCM 6 p.m.) TCM celebrates Cinco de Mayo by kicking off an entire month-long celebration of “Cine Mexico: The Golden Age.” Every Thursday in May will feature classic Mexican films–from Cantinflas to Luis Buñuel. Today it's a Buñuel bash with 1950's Los Olivados, 1959's Nazarín, 1961's Viridiana, 1962's The Exterminating Angel and 1965's Simon of the Desert.

Friday 6

Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys (Cartoon Network 9 p.m.) As if economic indicators weren't bad enough in Japan, it seems the latest Pokémon movie (the seventh, for those keeping count) is bypassing theaters here in America and going straight to Cartoon Network. Poor little Pikachu. Once king of cartoons, comic books and video games. Now, lord of the shelves at Everything's 99¢.

Saturday 7

“Ultimate Arena Paintball” (WGN 9 p.m.) Good news, sports fans: The professional hockey season has been canceled, but there's plenty of arena paintball to go around!

Sunday 8

Elvis (KRQE-13 8 p.m.) Elvis lives! … In a new TV mini-series, anyway.

“Living With Wolves” (Discovery 7 p.m.) A pair of animal behavior specialists spend two years living with a pack of wolves in Idaho. … Eh, still beats living with my first college roommate.

Monday 9

Ride the Pink Horse (TCM 6 p.m.) Still unavailable on video or DVD, you've got to catch this little gem on TCM when you get the chance. Based on the book by New Mexico author Dorothy B. Hughes, this dusty film noir was shot on location during the Santa Fe Fiestas, and features tons of classic New Mexico images, circa 1947.

Tuesday 10

“The Amazing Race” (KRQE-13 8 p.m.) The final three teams are in a mad dash for the finish line. My money's on reality show sweethearts Rob and Amber. The network's already got a ton of dough sunk into their wedding. They've got to win.

“Scrubs” (KOB-4 8 p.m.) J.D. (Zach Braff) goes looking for his own place now that Turk and Carla are married. I wonder if that sweet bachelor pad over the Cunninghams' garage is still available.

“Veronica Mars” (KASY-50 8 p.m.) In the season finale, teen detective Veronica Mars finally finds out who killed her best friend, Lilly Kane.

Wednesday 11

“Eyes” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) After a few short weeks, ABC's new private eye series goes on hiatus. Kind of a bummer really. I think this one needs a little longer to settle in with viewers. It's actually surprisingly solid. Tim Daly's portrayal of a slightly amoral snoop who's perfectly happy with his fat paycheck and upscale clients is refreshingly free of the sort of gritty “street” look that so many of these kinds of shows go for (“NYPD Blue,” “The Shield,” “The Wire”).
