More Deadline Doom—Deadline is a dramatic documentary examining America's capital punishment system. The film follows former Illinois Gov. George Ryan and his decision to grant clemency to 167 people on his state's death row.
Deadline premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and was eventually picked up by NBC. It was broadcast as a two-hour “Dateline” special last summer. In conjunction with Arts Engine Inc., the film is now screening in seven target states across the United States as part of an outreach initiative to promote broad-based national discussions about capital punishment. As part of this initiative,
Deadline will screen at Albuquerque's South Broadway Cultural Center, on Monday, May 16, beginning at 7 p.m. The screening is free and open to the public. The audience will be encouraged to participate in an open forum Q&A after the film with a filmmaker as well as key speakers on capital punishment.
