Friday 8

“White Dragon” (Amazon streaming anytime) From Britain’s ITV comes this eight-part conspiracy thriller in which a sheltered London professor (John Simm from “Doctor Who”) travels to Hong Kong to uncover the cause of his wife’s mysterious death.

“Kevin Hart’s Guide to Black History”(Netflix streaming anytime) In honor of Black History month, Kevin Hart and friends (Tiffany Haddish, Lil Rey Howery) highlight the contributions of black history’s unsung heroes in this “educational” comedy special. Think “Drunk History,” but less drunk. And more black.

“Big Mouth: My Furry Valentine” (Netflix streaming anytime) Nick Kroll’s raunchy animated sitcom about teenage puberty gets a Valentine’s Day special.

Saturday 9

Won’t You Be My Neighbor (HBO 6pm) This magnificently touching and timely documentary about Mr. Rogers didn’t get an Oscar nomination, and that makes me mad. But Mr. Rogers said it’s OK to be mad sometimes, so I feel better about it.

“Alliance of American Football: San Diego Fleet at San Antonio Commanders” (KRQE-13 6:30pm) Are you ready for some football? The Alliance of American Football, to be precise? If you miss the sub-NFL magic of the XFL, then get ready to cheer for your favorite, previously unknown franchise. Go Orlando Apollos!

“The 61st Annual Grammy Awards” (KRQE-13 6pm) Alicia Keys hosts, Kendrick Lamar walks in with the most nominations, and Diana Ross performs.

Monday 11

Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood (Starz 7pm) Scotty Bowers was a former Marine who landed in Hollywood following World War II. There he became a legendary escort and “sexual procurer” for the movie industry’s closeted gay celebrities. This documentary brings his scandal rag story to light.

Studio 54 (A&E 8:01pm) This feature documentary looks at the legendary nightclub Studio 54, the epicenter of ’70s hedonism.

Tuesday 12

Boomerang (BET 8pm) Reginald Hudlin’s 1992 romantic comedy starring Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens, Halle Berry and Martin Lawrence gets a modern-day sequel focusing on the now-grown offspring of the original film’s assorted hookups.

“Miracle Workers” (TBS 8:30pm) A low-level angel (played by Daniel Radcliffe) finds himself responsible for answering all of humanity’s prayers after God (Steve Buscemi—because, why not?) “checks out” to focus on his favorite hobbies. It’s based on the book by former “SNL” writer, novelist and all-around TV dude Simon Rich (“Man Seeking Woman”).

Wednesday 13

“Weird City” (YouTube streaming anytime) Jordan Peele, still hot off Get Out, is the man behind this sci-fi anthology, described as a comedic riff on “The Twilight Zone.”

Hale County This Morning, This Evening (KNME-5 5:30pm) Among the crop of Best Documentary nominees at this year’s Oscars is this poetic examination of time and place. It centers on two high school basketball players in rural Alabama—one of whom heads off to college, one of whom becomes father to a young son. See it before the Oscars.
