How many times have you thought, “what would a genocide look like with a vibrant color field of primary colors and death represented as sacred and on a pedestal?” Jesse Raine Littlebird spent some time thinking about that and is presenting his findings in the form of the paintings that make up the solo exhibit PRIMITIVE EARTHQUAKE opening at AC2 Gallery (301 Mountain Rd. El Perú: Art in the Contemporary Past opens this Friday, Sept. 6 with an opening reception from 6pm to 8pm at the National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum (1701 Fourth Street SW). You can learn more about this great self-defense technique and other helpful tips from these magnificent birds you can apply in your own life at International Vulture Awareness Day on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10am to 2pm at ABQ BioPark (903 Tenth Street SW). Be sure not to miss the “Sniffing Station” where you can go nose to nose with vultures trying to smell dead animals from miles away.
