The second offering in Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill’s (3011 Monte Vista Blvd. NE) QSOLO 2020 festival features Zoë Yeoman in the comedy Bad Dates, written by Theresa Rebeck and directed by Victoria J. Liberatori. Billed as “a comedy about fine dining, spike heels and the Romanian Mob,” this solo performance starts its four-show run on Friday, Jan. 17 at 8pm. Mexican dance comes to Popejoy Hall (UNM Main Campus) in the form of Ballet Folclórico Nacional de México de Silvia Lozano for one performance only on Friday, Jan. 17 at 7:30pm. The long and varied history of non-terrestrial reptiles is approaching a grim chapter that may see us close the book on these creatures in our lifetime. Time was reptiles filled the skies and seas, but now in our oceans we are down to geographically isolated marine iguanas, sort-of maybe crocodiles, brackish water-loving American alligators that will ruin your coastal vacation in a snap, a bunch of ornery sea snakes and a handful of elegant, endangered sea turtles. The ABQ BioPark Aquarium (903 10th Street SW) wants you to know more about these flippered friends and the challenges they face from overfishing, pollution and our rapidly changing climate. Sea Turtle Awareness Day on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 9am to 5pm is the place to do it with hands-on turtle crafts and a showing of the film Saving Sea Turtles: Preventing Extinction in the aquarium’s theater.
