Thursday 25“Adventure Time: Distant Lands—BMO” (HBO Max streaming anytime) Pendleton Ward’s cult cartoon returns with a series of four, hour-long specials, each concentrating on a different character from the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo. For starters we get plucky sentient video game system BMO on a space-spanning adventure.“The Twilight Zone” (CBS All Access streaming anytime) Still rather starved for non-”Star Trek” content, CBS’ streaming service adds a second season of Jordan Peele’s “Twilight Zone” reboot. Among the guest stars this season: Morena Baccarin, Jenna Elfman, Topher Grace, Tony Hale, Gillian Jacobs, Thomas Lennon, Joel McHale, Billy Porter, Damon Wayons Jr. and Jurnee Smollett.“Revenge Prank with Pauly D and Vinny” (MTV 7pm) Italianoid man-babies Paul Del Vecchio and Vincent Guadagnino were adopted by MTV back in 2009. Since then audiences have watched them grow up on such reality shows as “Jersey Shore,” “The Pauly D Project,” “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” “The Show with Vinny,” “Famously Single,” “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” and “Double Shot at Love with Pauly and Vinny.” Previous iterations of their life story never required Pauly or Vinny to do anything other than act like themselves. Here, they actually put in a bit of work, helping victims of hidden camera pranks execute hidden camera pranks of the people who hidden camera pranked them in the first place. All in all, a life well lived.Friday 26“Twogether” (Netflix streaming anytime) South Korean musician/host/actor Lee Seung-Gi and Taiwanese TV/movie star Jasper Liu travel East Asia meeting their rabid fans in this unscripted travel variety show.Saturday 27“Global Goal: Unite For Our Future—The Concert” (KOB-4 7pm) Global Goal is a worldwide “campaign and pledging summit” designed to “coordinate the development of COVID-19 tests, treatments and vaccines and ensure equitable access to everyone, everywhere.” The campaign aims to “combat the disproportionate impact that COVID-19 has on marginalized communities – including people of color, those living in extreme poverty, and others facing discrimination.” As everyone knows, that best way to do that is to have a concert! Among the musical celebs already working with Global Goal and likely to show up: Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Shakira.Sunday 28“2020 BET Awards” (KRQE-13 7pm) Although it doesn’t make up for … well, anything going on in America right now … or in the last 200 years, at least the BET Awards are being broadcast on CBS this year.Monday 29“The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons—Ever!: (KOAT-7 7pm) No longer able to lock random strangers in a house and videotape them until they copulate (thanks a lot, Coronavirus!), host Chris Hanson “reaches into the vault” to pull out the most devastating rose ceremonies, the most passionate proposals, the most unexpected new arrivals, the most dramatic meltdowns, the biggest breakups, and, of course, the most romantic moments from seasons past.Tuesday 30“BNA: Brand New Animal” (Netflix streaming anytime) “Furry” fiction is becoming big business in anime these days. (See for example: Netflix’s “Beastars.”) This animated fantasy centers on a normal high school girl who magically transforms into a humanoid tanuki (a Japanese racoon dog) and hides out in Anima City, a refuge for magically transformed beast people.Welcome to Chechnya (HBO 8pm) HBO’s newest documentary looks at a group of activists risking their lives to confront the ongoing anti-LGBTQ persecution in the repressive and closed Russian republic of Chechnya.Adú (Netflix streaming anytime) This Spanish drama, premiering today on Netflix, follows three different stories, all about immigrants attempting to cross the Strait of Gibraltar and risking their lives in the process. Wednesday 1“Unsolved Mysteries” (Netflix streaming anytime) The producers of “Stranger Things” are getting even more nostalgic, reviving the 1987 to 2010 docu-crime series. No one could ever replace hyperbolically ominous host Robert Stack, however—so producers have dispensed with the role for this reboot.
