Lance Letscher painstakingly assembles works of art from antique ledgers, battered schoolbooks, handwritten ledgers, recipe cards and other aged detritus. His latest group of collages goes on display starting this Friday, August 19, at the Richard Levy Gallery (514 Central SW). The show is called Drawing with Scissors.
Sharing the Downtown space with Letscher will be Kerri Rosenstein, exhibiting a “cut-up and put-back-together” creation in the project room. The piece is a five- by 11-foot sheet of paper that's supposedly been torn, cut, taped and rearranged into a replica of its original size and shape. I'm not even sure what that means, but I'm definitely going to check it out.

You've still got a couple weekends to catch the Adobe Theater's production of Ordinary People, Nancy Pahl Gilsenen's stage adaptation of Judith Guest's award-winning novel that was made into an Oscar-winning movie. The show runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., through August 28. $12 general, $10 students/seniors. The Adobe Theater is located at 9813 Fourth Street NW. 898-9222.

Artworks, the TVI Art Club, is holding a silent art auction now through August 31 at TVI's Main Campus Bookstore. Student and faculty work by the likes of John Atlee, Trish Holmes, Lynn Johnson and Woody Crumbo is being auctioned off to support Artworks.
