Architecture on Screen—As part of Albuquerque's ongoing Tricentennial celebration, the city is sponsoring a night of short film screenings at the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill. September has been named Architecture Month, so the city has teamed with the American Institute of Architects-New Mexico to present “In Focus: Architecture in Film.” The screening will consist of three short documentaries, each concentrating on one of the architecture world's most famous figures. Antonio Gaudi (designer of Barcelona's Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia), Frank Lloyd Wright (designer of Pennsylvania's Falling Water) and Frank Geary (designer of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles) are the three subjects. The films are simple introductions to and interviews with the subjects at hand, so an advanced knowledge of architecture is not necessary–just an appreciation of beautiful buildings. Geometry from Space—It has screened at The UFO Congress, the Northwest Paranormal Congress, the E.T. Dolphin Conference and the World Congress on Illumination and has received its fair share of acclaim (by the sort of people who go to the E.T. Dolphin Conference). Now the techno-mystical crop circle documentary Star Dreams is coming to Albuquerque. According to the makers of Star Dreams, crop circles are quite real and “are here to offer humanity, at this time, an opportunity for an expanded consciousness and an understanding of how the world works in the larger context of the intergalactic community.” If you're wondering how flattened grain products relate to your place in the intergalactic community, show up at Albuquerque's Peace & Justice Center (202 Harvard SE) on Sunday, Sept. 11, for two showings (4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.).

NASA Meets NM—Astronaut Farmer, the new film by Mark and Michael Polish (the oddly intriguing duo behind Northfork and Twin Falls Idaho), has finally acquired a partial cast. The film will be shooting in northern New Mexico this fall and Billy Bob Thornton has been named the lead actor. Mark Polish (who appeared in Northfork and Twin Falls Idaho as well as Neil Jordan's The Good Thief) will step in front of the camera slongside Mr. Thonton.
