Thursday 29

“Zixx” (Cartoon Network 8:30 p.m.) CN gives viewers a sneak peek at one of its new Saturday morning lineup series (debuting January 14). This Canadian series features a blend of live-action and CGI and tells the story of a tough space chick who crash-lands on Earth and joins forces with some normal teenagers to fight intergalactic bad guys.

Friday 30

“The eBay Effect: Inside a Worldwide Obsession” (CNBC 6 p.m.) I was gonna look up a description of this show online, but I got distracted bidding on a 23-inch Godzilla Shogun Warrior figure from the mid-'70s.

Saturday 31

See “Idiot Box” Above.

Sunday 1

“My Shakespeare” (KNME-5 7:30 p.m.) This behind-the-scenes doc finds filmmaker Baz Luhrmann (Romeo + Juliet) overseeing an amateur production of Shakespeare's classic play. Without Leonardo DiCaprio, of course.

Surrender Dorothy (KRQE-13 8 p.m.) Meg Wolitzer's bestselling novel comes to life as a tear-jerking TV movie. Diane Keaton stars as a mother devastated by the loss of her daughter. She retreats to the summer home she often shared with her daughter and overcomes her grief with the help of some friends. … I don't know about you, but I feel better already.

“Flavor of Love” (VH1 8 p.m.) Remember “Strange Love,” that uncomfortable but addictive spin-off of “Surreal World” where weird rapper Flavor Flav romanced crazy actress Brigitte Nielsen? Well, now VH1 has come up with another spin-off. This one's a dating show with Flavor Flav romancing a bevy of beauties. It's basically “The Bachelor” but creepier. … Way, way creepier.

“In Justice” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) This new ABC series features Kyle McLachlan as a … wait, lemme flip the magical two-sided coin of TV drama development … a lawyer. Whew! For a second there, I thought he was gonna be a doctor.

Monday 2

“Wildfire” (ABC Family 7 p.m.) Even though it's shot in New Mexico, I'm torn by this series. I like the sexy teenage girls, but I'm not so much into the horses. Oh well, the new season starts tonight.

“Roller Girls” (A&E 8 p.m.) It was only a matter of time. A&E's new docu-reality series follows a fledgling women's roller derby team.

Tuesday 3

“Scrubs” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) NBC's finest sitcom finally returns at midseason, but feels awfully lonely now that fellow sitcoms “My Name is Earl” and “The Office” have vacated to Thursday nights.

Wednesday 4

“The Biggest Loser: Special Edition” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) If you can't wait until the season premiere of “The Biggest Loser” … Well, if you can't wait until the season premier of “The Biggest Loser,” you're just sad. But it's really not for me to judge. To tide you over, here's a two-hour special pitting two families against one another. Whichever loses the most total weight wins $50,000. Personally, I feel it would be more exciting if the families only had two hours in which to lose the weight. Now that I'd watch.
