Roll Over Beethoven— Imani Winds is a five-piece chamber music outfit aimed at exploring the intersections between European, American and African music. The quintet has been around since 1997, building a passionate base of loyal fans. Luckily, Chamber Music Albuquerque is bringing them to town for a performance on Sunday, Feb. 25, at Albuquerque Academy’s Simms Center. This definitely isn’t your standard Hayden and Beethoven classical music event. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness this exciting ensemble. Poetry Downtown— It might not be the catchiest name for a production company, but you’ve got to hand it to ImmaStar Productions for bringing some of the best performance poets in downtown Albuquerque to the Main Library this Saturday afternoon, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. Poetry champs such as Hakim Bellamy, Kenn Rodriguez, Esme Vaandraer, Cuffee, Don McIver and others will be on hand to stand and deliver. If you’re looking for a funny mishmash of some of the best local talent around, you’ve come to the right place. This Sunday, Feb. 25, the Yale Art Center‘s Sunday School features live music, dancing, poetry and comedy along with a raffle that will let a lucky winner walk away with a prized piece of art at evening’s end.
