Yale for Sale— Marissa Glink had a good time at the helm of the Yale Art Center, the contemporary art and performance venue located a few blocks south of the university, but she feels it’s time to move on. “It’s been a great two years,” Glink says, “a great experience. But first and foremost I’m young, and I’m ready to do my own art.”She hadn’t touched clay, her medium of choice, in a year and is eager to get her hands dirty again. Operating the art center was a ton of work. Thankfully, the payoffs were large. Sunday School, a variety show featuring local music, poetry, dance and free-form performances was particularly successful. “It got to the point where it outgrew the space,” says Glink. “Since October it’s been jam-packed.” She notes that the monthly event will most likely continue at a different yet-to-be-announced local venue.“I met a lot of amazing people, and learned so much,” she says. “It’s not like I feel it’s a failed thing. I hope two or three ambitious people can come forward and take over. Very few venues in town exhibit this kind of contemporary art.”The Yale Art Center is located at 1001 Yale SE, Suite K.
