March is Women’s History Month , and you’d be safe in betting that I won’t shut up about it. Next week’s Arts section will focus on Women and Creativity 2009, a monthlong series of events presented by the National Hispanic Cultural Center and sponsored by Mark Pardo salons. Between now and then, though, there are a few events worth your time, such as Dear Eve, Lilith, and Emily…, featuring poets Dana Levin and Valerie Martinez and prose writer Robin Romm. The three women will read from and discuss their work at the College of Santa Fe‘s O’Shaughnessy Performance Space on Tuesday, March 3, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. And on Sunday, March 1, the string band Carolina Chocolate Drops brings the music of the pre-WWII South to the Outpost Performance Space at 7:30 p.m. Downloadable information on these events and more is available at nhccnm.org. And check back next week for a comprehensive look at Women and Creativity 2009.

“Heretics, Henchmen & the Holy” is, besides my idea of a swell Friday night, the theme for Mother Road Theatre Company’s 2009 season. No doubt you are chomping at the metaphorical bit to see what, besides possibly a theatrical version of The Da Vinci Code (saints in heaven preserve us), this could lead to. Mother Road seeks to satiate your curiosity with its 2009 Prebut. Excerpts from the spring production of The Love Song of J. Robert Oppenheimer and fall’s Life During Wartime will be staged alongside portions of three plays audience members will be asked to vote on. The favorite play will round out Mother Road’s season. Shows run Feb. 27 to March 8, Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at The Filling Station (1024 Fourth Street SW). Admission to the Prebut is free, but as this is a fundraiser for Mother Road, donations are gratefully accepted. See motherroad.org for more.

Alibi Arts and Literature online is growing far beyond the limits of an ink-and-pulp weekly newspaper. Much like the Green Scorpion, we’re out to shake things up, and will happily wear tights while we do. See the hubbub at alibi.com. This week’s "I on Books" vlog dishes on the Swedish crime novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, while "Gallery Box" features ArtStreet’s shows at the Harwood Art Gallery. See you there.
