This month, Albuquerque's gallery tour, Artscrawl, stretches its paint-stained tentacles across the entire city for a gigantic city-wide art event encompassing 28 galleries located in almost every neighborhood in the city. The event will also feature an Art Benefit Raffle in support of the organizers. Raffled items will include original art work as well as various classes and certificates. Tickets can be purchased at any participating gallery for $2, or $10 for a book of six.

It all goes down this Friday evening, Jan. 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. Among the cooler events are a 90th birthday party for Siegfried Hahn, the legendary local painter, at the New Mexico Art League and Gallery (3407 Juan Tabo NE, 293-5034). The Dartmouth Street Gallery (3011 Monte Vista NE, 266-7751) will present an opening reception for an exciting exhibit of work by Mexican artist Roberto Rugerio Guerrero. The Peter Eller Gallery (206 Dartmouth NE, 268-7437) will offer an exhibit featuring such jewels as a signed linocut by Picasso and signed photographs by Ansel Adams, Lee Marmon and Edward Weston.

Several new, or relatively new, galleries on the tour are also worth checking out. These include the Albuquerque Photographers Gallery (328-C San Felipe NW, 244-9195), Volére Gallery (2041 South Plaza NW, 242-2930), Acquiring Taste (300 13th St. NW, 242-0470) and Peggy Neuman Fine Art (#36 Galeria, 20 First Plaza, 242-3855).

There's o'plenty more where that came from, of course. For a full roster of this month's Artscrawl events, call 244-0362 or log onto www.artscrawlabq.org.
