Unseen Gallery—a new exhibit space specializing in fantasy, art nouveau, erotica, surrealism and other fringe art—opens this week at 108 Morningside SE, just east of the Nob Hill Shopping Center. Da-da-da-da! Da-da-da-da! A one-day celebration of Dadaist absurdity spins out of control this Tuesday, March 23, from 4 to 9 p.m. in UNM's ASA Gallery (located in the Student Union Building). Dreams of Pavlov's Dog presents work by both faculty and students accompanied by various artistic performances that will combust throughout the evening. One of our best local poets, Lisa Gill, author of the excellent sonnet collection Red as a Lotus, will make an appearance at Puccini's Golden West this Friday, March 19, at 8 p.m. along with Phil (Pony) West of San Antonio, Texas. Singer/songwriter Jason Daniello will also be on hand, and the event will include a poetry/acoustic open mic. Suggested donation is $5. Sign-up starts at 7:30 p.m. 242-2353.

This month's Artscrawl gallery tour occurs Friday, March 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. and will include 15 galleries from Downtown to just east of Nob Hill. Among the highlights will be an Open Studio Night at the Harwood Art Center (1114 Seventh Street NW, 242-6367), an exhibit featuring oils by Melissa Hill and digital prints by Bonu Perakh at the New Fisher Gallery (1620 Central SE, 247-1529), and some abstract constructions by Ellen Feinberg at Galerie E (3500 Central SE, 268-6828). UNM's Graduate Art Association opens its 10th Annual Graduate Exhibition with a reception this Friday, March 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jonson Gallery (1909 Las Lomas NE, 277-4967). Juried by SITE Santa Fe director Charles Stainback and internationally known artists Holly Roberts and John Mulvaney, the show will feature work by some of the best of the best of UNM's Master of Fine Arts students.
