Now the creators of this art space are opening up a new studio complex at 508 1/2 Central SW, an immaculately renovated 3,600-square-foot loft which will provide work space for 12 artsy types. Appropriately named Fort .5, 11 of the studios have already been rented.
Like its elder sibling, Fort .5 will have a swanky exhibit space designed to showcase some of the best contemporary art being made by local artists. The gallery will host a grand opening with a show called Lovely 2, a sister exhibit to a show called Lovely 1 that's currently running at Fort 105. The Fort .5 show will feature work by resident artists as well as pieces by some local hotshots from the community such as Ralph Greene, Gary Wellman, Peter Graham, Matt Jones, Kimberly Murak, Kendra Brock, Callie Nilson and others.
The exhibit opens this Friday, May 21, with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m. and runs through June 21. Fort .5 is located three doors down from 516 Magnífico Artspace, right above El Chamizal Restaurant. Call 246-8475 for details.
