Twinkles, Twinkles—Bandelier Elementary is hosting its Holiday Shop and Stroll this Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors will be offering everything from clothing to toys to educational gifts to jewelry to other locally made products, making this an ideal opportunity to pick up some one-of-a-kind gifts. Carleen Lopez will be hawking her unique saris. Rudy J. Miera will be selling retablos. Folk artist Steve White will be on hand with an array of custom-made PEZ dispensers. I'm told Twinkles the Clown will be making an appearance as well, and there should be plenty of food. Bandelier is located at 3309 Pershing SE, half a block or so from Hyder Park. Games People Play—Offcenter offers up an alternative to the over-saturated, over-rated mall shopping cliché this holiday season. On Saturday, Nov. 19, the nonprofit arts organization will present an open house spotlighting a new line of board games and other affordable holiday gifts. The open house runs from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening but the items will remain on sale through Dec. 31. Offcenter is located at 808 Park Avenue SW, right across from Robinson Park. Into the Shadows—Out ch'Yonda's experimental music and spoken word studio, The Shadow Lounge, brings a host of seasoned local performers to the stage this Thursday, Nov. 17, including poet Danny Solis and 10th Martini, Tur-koys, DJ Cuyerres, Mark LeClaire, Lisa Gill, Hakim Bellamy and others. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and lasts until the fat lady sings. They're asking $10 per person but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For more information, call 243-4325.
