Old Stuff — The annual Santa Fe Winter Antiquities Show is a holiday tradition ’round these parts. This year it’s moving to El Museo Cultural (1615 Paseo de Peralta, in the railyard). As always, expect a wide range of the finest antiques from Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas — from books to paintings to jewelry to furniture. A gala preview on Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. will benefit Kitchen Angels, a charity providing home-meals to homebound members of the Santa Fe community. The gala is $50 per person, which includes cocktails and canapés along with entrance to the show for the remainder of the weekend. The actual event runs from Thursday, Dec. 29, through Saturday, Dec. 31. Admission is $10 per person, with three-day passes available for $15. Kids under 17 are free. Culture Shock
A Tricentennial Journey—Artists Pat Berrett, Miriam Foronda, Sue Orchant, Veronica Piastuch and Bethe Sailer share an interest in exploring the relationship between art and divinity. They formed The Spiritual Odyssey Group back in 2001, kicking off the venture with a highly successful show called 2001: A Spiritual Odyssey at the South Broadway Cultural Center (1025 Broadway SE). The group has reunited for a new exhibit called A Tricentennial Journey, also at the South Broadway Cultural Center. The new show is designed to celebrate Albuquerque's 300th birthday by examining elements of our region's spiritual history and practices through art. In addition to the exhibit, a wall will be dedicated to la Virgen de Guadalupe. The show is only open for another week or so, so swing by the center's gallery space sometime soon to check it out.
