What to do about teenagers? They ruin your couches, they smell weird and there’s lots of hugging. We older folk forget, perhaps intentionally, that we were once also pimply bundles of barely contained hormonal explosions. Maybe instead of locking our car doors when they walk by, we should look at giving them better than we got.

Warehouse 508 , Albuquerque’s new teen arts and entertainment center, is dedicated to serving our city’s proto-adults, and now the new building is getting dedicated as well. On Thursday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m., join the in the party to mark the opening of the new space at 508 First Street NW. Mayor Martin Chavez will cut the ribbon while music by youth artists DJ Bright White, Riverside Jam and Lost Lingo will help you cut a rug. That’s teen speak. Art and food will be on hand, too. For more info, got to warehouse508.org.

As you’re reading this, you’re obviously a student of the school of life, though maybe you’re an actual student, too. If that’s the case, the
Church of Beethoven invites you to attend its new Wednesday night version of the popular classical music and poetry series at the Kosmos, located at the Factory on 5 th Artspace (1715 Fifth Street NW). Instead of the usual $15, students only have to lay down $5. Upcoming lineups and more can be found at churchofbeethoven.com.

Folk art is a tremendous expression of the kid in all of us. Celebrate folk at
CorkFest ’09, the annual gathering of Burque’s best and weirdest artists. There will be art, music (Daddy Long Loin and Young Edward) and an auction to benefit the Alliance for Albuquerque Animals. Head down to 1024A La Vega in the South Valley (go west on Bridge past the river, left on La Vega) on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
