Found Objects Pen Envy

If you’re anything like me (what I’m about to say here might be pretty niche, so maybe if you’re even a little bit like me?) you know that one of the greatest, simplest pleasures in life is a really nice pen put to really fine paper. Pennysmiths Paper (4022 Rio Grande Blvd. NW) totally gets it. That’s why they’ve been in the business of supplying nice writing instruments from the most top-notch brands for 40 years. That’s a long time, and totally warrants a celebration. The business will be hosting a birthday party on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10am to 5pm. Not only will there be cakes and pens and paper, but this day is also the Pen Road Show! Representatives from all the big names will be there—Visconti, Pilot, Caran d’Ache and more. Celebrate with Pennysmiths at this free event!

Found Objects Parade Preparation

The annual Día de los Muertos Marigold Parade is right around the corner (mark your calendars for Sunday, Nov. 4!) so Muertos y Marigolds is helping us prepare for the big day with a series of events, including this Saturday’s Calavera Face Painting and Altar History Community Arts Workshop, hosted by Los Jardines Institute (803 La Vega Dr. SW). Instructors at this free event will show participants how to paint their faces, and the faces of their friends, in Calavera style. Meanwhile, the group will also give a history lesson on the significance of ofrendas. Things kick off at this workshop at 1pm on Saturday, Oct. 20.
