The Fall 2019 semester at the University of New Mexico begins with the opening reception for the exhibit To Survive on This Shore: Photographs and Interviews with Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Older Adults at UNM Art Museum (UNM Main Campus) on Friday, Aug. 23 from 4pm to 7pm. A deep-dive into complex experiences, 22 photographs by Jess T. Dugan are accompanied by interviews with the people in the photographs by Vanessa Fabbre. Nancy Sellin directs the 1945 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy Harvey, opening Friday, Aug. 23 at Adobe Theater (9813 Fourth Street NW). Harvey is the tale of an affable man named Elwood and his tall, anthropomorphized, rabbit-like creature Harvey that nobody seems to be able to see but him. Hilarity ensues when Elwood, Harvey and Elwood’s sister Veta all head down to the local sanitarium to try to get things sorted out. Tickets for this family friendly classic are available for $15 at adobetheater.org. Curtain for opening night is at 7:30pm.
