The UNM School of Architecture and Planning, the City of Albuquerque and your very own favorite Albuquerque weekly newspaper bring you the Rail Yard Fictions Writing Competition. This is your chance to put all your feelings about the Albuquerque Rail Yards into writing, reimagining the place in your mind and expanding everyone’s ideas about what the Albuquerque Rail Yards can be. There are three categories of writing for this competition: poems (up to 500 words), short stories (up to 1,000 words) and other fictions (you are creative, you decide what exactly that means, but keep it to 1,000 words). Up to three awards of $200 will be given in each category and winners may find their work on these very pages of Weekly Alibi. Submission is free and open to the public from Feb. 1 through March 15. Found Objects Private Tudoring
The final installment of Aux Dog Theatre Nob Hill’s (3011 Monte Vista Blvd. NE) QSolo Festival 2020 stars Tamara Meneghini as the 16th century British monarch Queen Elizabeth I in Elizabeth I: In Her Own Words. An intimate portrait of the queen at the time of Shakespeare comes to the stage for three performances beginning on Friday, Jan. 31 at 8pm. Tickets are $18, with a variety of discounts. Found Objects Things And Such
Friday, Jan. 31 from 5pm to 7pm is the opening reception for Objects: Redux at Form & Concept (435 S. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe). Objects: Redux is an update on the 1969 Smithsonian exhibit Objects: USA, bringing contemporary craft alongside work from the Smithsonian artists to Santa Fe.
