In the Albuquerque Museum’s online collection, you will find, in no particular order: Kit Carson’s chair, a Jaune Quick-to-See Smith lithograph, a photograph of an Albuquerque tire shop from 1930, a 16th century German helmet and, of course, the Walter McDonald photography collection associated with Let the Sunshine In, currently on exhibit at the museum. The museum is closed to the public, but you can still see the photographs, along with a ton of other stuff, online at albuquerque.emuseum.com. If you are at home with your family, this is a great time to look through these pictures of Albuquerque from 50 years ago and see if you know anybody in them. Bookworks (4022 Rio Grande Blvd. NW) is offering curbside pickup of books, games and whatever else they have in store during this time of self-isolating. The owners have sent home the staff and closed its doors to the public but are in the shop themselves from 9am to 5pm daily, answering the phones and filling orders for people to pick up from their cars. Mindwell Poetry is taking their open mic poetry scene online with their first MindWell Global Open Mic on Friday, March 20 from 7pm to 9pm. Why not buy a ticket to a local theater production that you are not going to go to? That seems odd, but all the theaters are shut down right now and they have no way to meet their expenses. Just pick whatever show you thought you might go to and buy a ticket off the theater’s website. Your donation will make it possible for these troupes to start back up when they can. It helps more than you think.
