You may have seen Lynnette Haozous’ work in the Artist Rooms at Nativo Lodge, or a mural at Hotel Chaco, or perhaps you spotted her working with students from Working Classroom around town. The Chiricahua Apache, Diné and Taos Pueblo artist is always on the move and always working on something new. Now we have the chance to catch some of her work in one place—for one night only. Arrows on Point is the name of her latest collection, which is going up at OT Circus (709 Central Ave. NW), featuring many original works by Haozous in a variety of mediums. The official reception runs between 5 and 9pm on Saturday, April 28, and features music by Antro and KBenally. Catch it while you can.
Found Objects Independence Day
Long live books and long live the independent purveyors of them. On Saturday, April 28, book worms nationwide are celebrating these vital places and supporting the people that keep them running during Independent Bookstore Day. Pop into Page One (5850 Eubank NE Ste. B-41) for a full day of talks from authors like Lizbeth Novelliere and Michelle Anderson. If you’re farther west, you might also try Bookworks, where cookbook authors Patricia Perea and Cecelia Dardanes are offering readings. Found Objects Pay Up
Coffee + Creatives is a long-running resource for the makers and doers in our community. In the 38th installment of the event, experienced artists speak out about negotiating pay both locally and in the global economy. The informal conversation is led by Stacey Cooley, Job Connection Services Manager at CNM and a seasoned finance coach. If you work in design, photography, journalism, coding and more, these conversations are vital—and this one happens to be totally free. Coffee + Creatives happens at Breve Crepes and Coffee (400 Gold SW) on Thursday, May 3, from 6 to 7:30pm.
Found Objects Mighty And Micro
Sonder is an experience quite unlike any other. The micro-theater event co-produced by Blackout Theatre and Arts Hub is presenting five plays by five locals, which are performed simultaneously five times each night for the entire run of the Sonder showcase—which is from Thursday, May 3 to Saturday, May 12. This is the first series of shows, and is followed by a second cohort who present their work later in May. This time around, catch new works by Stephen Armijo, Diana Delgado, Elsa Menendez, Tara Khozein, Lila Hadda Martinez and Heather Yeocero.
