The year’s not yet half-way over, but Albuquerque’s drama junkies are already planning for 2009. Several theaters, companies and the year-old Albuquerque Theatre Guild are seeking new talent to showcase in ’09, and that means you.This Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, the Albuquerque Theatre Guild is holding general auditions. Bring two monologues totaling three minutes to this cattle call for an opportunity to be cast in any number of productions by Albuquerque Theater Guild member companies such as Aux Dog, Albuquerque Little Theatre and The Box Performance Space. VSA North Fourth Art Center will have an open call for adult actors and community members interested in participating in its professional, multi-ability theater company on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 24 and 25. The new company will be based on the model used in the VSA’s successful Equilibrium Theater Company and is open to anyone with or without disabilities. Auditions will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. both days at the N4 th Art Center (4904 Fourth NW). Wild Dancing West
It’s week two of Wild Dancing West, VSA North Fourth Art Center and NewArt New Mexico’s annual festival of local and regional dance. This year, they’re trying something new by offering two performances each night, doubling up on your chance to see professional-grade dance. On Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7, Xdrop from San Francisco will perform So Human An Animal , a look at the beauty and grotesqueness of human relationships, at 6:30 p.m. At 8 p.m., local choreographer Jacqueline Garcia’s newest work, Om Tare , merges Eastern aesthetic with contemporary dance.
