The Albuquerque Little Theatre begins its Studio Series on Saturday, Nov. 10, with staged readings of work by local playwrights Walter L. Newton, Edith Weiss, Robert F. Benjamin, Elaine Jarvik and Scott Bison. The Studio Series is a program offered by ALT to local writers for the development of new dramatic scripts through workshops, readings and performances. The staged reading will start at 7 p.m. and last around two hours including an intermission (with complimentary coffee and cookies) and a talk back with the actors and directors. As any writer knows, audience feedback is essential to creating a successful product, so don’t be afraid to chime in with the good and the bad. After a highly successful first performance, the VSA North Fourth Art Center is hosting its second Deaf Jam on Saturday, Nov. 10, as part of Out of the Ordinary 2007, an art festival with a point of view. Local blues and rock bands Burning Moonlight and Black T-Shirt Monday will take the stage from 6 to 9 p.m. to play their music in a more optical way. Adding visual and vibratory dimensions, a sign language interpreter and a big, bad subwoofer, Deaf Jam II is a concert-going experience for every abled person. Martha’s Body Bueno and the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation are gearing up for their annual Art Bra exhibit and auction. The event, planned for Thursday, Nov. 29, raises funds to assist low-income cancer patients with living expenses during treatment. Martha’s and NMCCF are calling all artists with creative renditions of certain upper body feminine wear to submit their works for the worthy event.
