Lots of people who don't necessarily give much of a damn about Portland, Ore. will be interested in the latest book by the hot young novelist responsible for Fight Club, Choke and Lullaby. Yes, Fugitives and Refugees is a travel book, but since its written by Chuck Palahniuk, odds are this one should be a pretty freaky read. In it, Palahniuk takes his readers on a personalized tour of his hometown, dishing out juicy local legends on everything from ghosts to strip clubs. The book is also a kind of memoir, describing his adventures in the city. Fans of Palahniuk's novels should get a kick out of this slim little testament to his beloved hometown.
