Thursday 21

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” (KOAT-7 7pm) Yeah, Linus gets a little preachy, but it’s still a classic.

“Saturday Night Live Christmas Special” (KOB-4 8pm) The best holiday sketches from “SNL” history are highlighted in this annual special.

Friday 22

“The Last Post” (Amazon streaming anytime) Producer Peter Moffat (“The Night Of”) presents this BBC drama about the lives of a Royal Military Police unit and their families stationed in Yemen during the ’60s.

Bright (Netflix streaming anytime) Netflix sinks some major moolah into this fantasy set in a modern-day world where magical creatures live and work side by side with humans. Will Smith plays a veteran LA cop reluctantly partnered with a monstrous orc (Joel Edgerton) to recover an ancient magic wand.

“The Toys That Made Us” (Netflix streaming anytime) Netflix’s new documentary series looks into the history of such popular toys as G.I. Joe, Barbie, He-Man and Star Wars.

“I Love Lucy Christmas Special” (KRQE-13 7pm) This colorized “I Love Lucy” special, rebroadcast every holiday season, is followed by some colorized episodes of “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”

Saturday 23

Christmas Getaway (Hallmark 6pm) An overworked travel writer (Bridget Regan) takes a traditional Christmas vacation for the first time after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend. Though a wacky mix-up at the rental site, she ends up double booked with a widower (Travis Van Winkle) and his young daughter. If only there were some way this could lead to romance. … Yeah, I hate these Hallmark holiday rom-coms and rarely talk about them. But it’s Christmas. What the hell.

Sunday 24

It’s a Wonderful Life (KOB-4 7pm) It’s an unavoidable tradition.

Monday 25

“Meow Manor: Meowy Christmas” (Up 5am) Your enjoyment of this repetitiously cute two-hour clip show featuring webcam footage of kittens in an Icelandic animal shelter will depend largely how funny you think that title is.

“Doctor Who” (BBC America 7pm) This year’s Christmas special is doubly interesting because it features two Doctors: Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor and David Bradley’s First Doctor (filling in for William Hartnell, who passed away in 1975). Of course, if you count the fact that Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor will be regenerating into Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor, we’ve actually got three Time Lords.

Tuesday 26

“Pete the Cat: A Groovy New Year Holiday Special” (Amazon streaming anytime) The 40-plus picture book series by Eric Litwin and James Dean gets a movie musical extravaganza featuring the vocal talents of Elvis Costello and Diana Krall.

“40th Annual Kennedy Center Honors” (KRQE-13 8pm) Dancer Carmen de Lavallade, singer Gloria Estefan, hip-hop artist LL Cool J, producer Norman Lear and musician Lionel Richie make up a typically odd bunch of honorees.

Wednesday 27

“The EA Madden NFL 18 Challenge” (KWBQ-19 7pm) No, not actual football—although I can see how you could be confused. This is actually a bunch of young dorks playing the Xbox game “Madden NFL 18” for their share of a $150,000 prize pool.
