Santa Fe Almost Underway– The seventh annual Santa Fe Film Festival will take place Dec. 6 through 10. Last week, the organizers announced their 2006 lineup. Of course, the Alibi will have a complete festival round-up as the date draws nearer, but we thought you might like a quick sneak preview. After all, complete festival passes are already on sale! Individual tickets and ticket blocks are also available at the SFFF box office (1610 St. Michael’s Drive in the Village West Shopping Center) or by phone (Passes: 505-989-1958, Tickets: 505-989-1495).

World-renowned Hungarian-born cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs (
Five Easy Pieces, Shampoo, Ghostbusters, Easy Rider ) will not only be one of the festivals major tributees, he’ll also be teaching a special three-hour workshop on lighting. Needless to say, seating is extremely limited for that demonstration and advance tickets are required. You can pick them up for $15 at the SFFF box office.

The festival’s opening night film will be acclaimed German filmmaker Tom (
Run, Lola, Run ) Tykwer’s Perfume: The Story of a Murderer starring Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman. The festival’s centerpiece film will be the North American premiere of Miss Potter starring Renee Zellwegger, Emily Watson and Ewan McGregor. The closing night film will be Venus , starring Peter O’Toole and Vanessa Redgrave.
