Get your winter ski stoke on with the Powderwhores. … I don’t know what that means. But apparently, a group of self-proclaimed “snow sluts from Utah” have produced a new extreme skiing film called The Pact . It features trailblazing skiing from the Wasatch Mountains in Utah to the snowy peaks of Hakuba, Japan. There will be two screenings of The Pact at the Santa Fe Film Center (1616 St. Michael’s Drive) on Thursday, Nov. 13 beginning at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

There will be a film screening and lecure by Sundance Festival filmmaker Cedar Sherbert on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe (660 Garcia Street). Reel World Cinematic Heritage
In honor of American Indian Heritage Month, the New Mexico Film Office will hold free public screenings of the several Native American film on Nov. 15 and 16 at the Jean Cocteau Theatre (418 Montezuma in Santa Fe). On Saturday, Nov. 15, the schedule is “Conversion” at 3 p.m., A Return Home with a Q&A by writer/director Ramona Emerson at 3:30 p.m., “Goodnight Irene” at 5 p.m. and Dancing from the Heart followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Marilyn Hunt and dancer Andew Garcia at 5:20 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 16, the schedule is “The Gift” at 2 p.m., Pow Wow Highway with a Q&A by director Jonathan Wacks at 3:15 p.m., Smoke Signals at 5:15 p.m., and Four Sheets to the Wind at 7 p.m. All screenings are free and open to the public.
Reel World Santa Fe Sneak
The Santa Fe Film Festival is hosting a preview night on Monday, Nov. 17, spotlighting two films from the upcoming annual festival (Dec. 3-7). This will take place at the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill beginning at 6:30 p.m. The films will include the documentary Flowing Grasses: The Life of Artist Dean Howell and the family drama Taos. Filmmakers Christopher Scott and Brandon Schmid and artist Dean Howell will be present. Representatives of the SFFF, including programmer Stephen Rubin, will also be on hand and there will be a wine reception between films. Tickets are $10 for one film or $15 for both.
Reel World (Dis)Abled
As part of its OOO In Context film festival, the North Fourth Arts Center will present SHAMELESS: The Art of Disability on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m.The film is described as a funny and intimate portrait of five surprising (dis)abled artists by award-winning women’s cinema pioneer Bonnie Sherr Klein. Rather poetically, SHAMELESS marks Klein’s return to the world of film after a life-altering stoke. Admission is $5. The North Fourth Arts Center is located at 4904 Fourth NW.
