Alibi. This charity event will help raise funds for P.A.W.S. (Pets Are Wonderful Support), a New Mexico AIDS Services program that provides companion animal support for critically ill patients in our local community. Alibi film editor Devin O'Leary, will be serving as the night's emcee, helping hand out door prizes during commercial breaks. There will be a silent auction of items donated by local merchants and a costume contest for those who wish to show up as their favorite movie star or movie character. Oscar Nominee Number Two—The Digital Filmmaking Institute is also throwing an Academy Awards Gala on Oscar night—this one is at Madstone Theaters. A $50 ticket gets you dinner at an area restaurant, a limousine ride to and from the theater and a champagne reception. Limousine dinner shuttle leaves Madstone at 4 p.m. Red carpet festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. The show will be broadcast on the big screen and hosted by “local celebrities.” Tickets are available at the Madstone box office (6311 San Mateo NE). Oscar Nominee Number Three—New Mexicans of a more northerly persuasion are invited to walk the red carpet at the College of Santa Fe's 13th Annual Awards Gala Dinner and Auction. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Rosemarie Shellaberger Tennis Center. Emceed by CSF alumnus and actor James Gleeson, the evening features the Academy Awards on the big screen, a gourmet dinner catered by Bon Appetit and an auction featuring over 100 items. This popular party raised $75,000 for SCF student scholarships and the Moving Image Arts Department last year. Tickets are $125 and can be reserved by calling (505) 473-6244.
