10 Again—Seems that Blake Edwards' infamous sex comedy, known mostly for introducing Bo Derek and the sexual applications of Ravel's “Bolero” to the world, is slated for a remake. Australian Jennifer Hawkins, recently crowned Miss Universe, has been picked to take over Derek's sexpot role. Robert Downey Jr. has been discussed in the Dudley Moore part.
I Dream of Jeannie—Talk has been rampant for years on a sexy update of this TV sitcom classic. Could recent rumors that teen queen Lindsay Lohan (Mean Girls) has been locked up for the navel-bearing title role be true? If so, our little girl's growing up fast!
Red Rabbit—Is it me, or does Tom Clancy's hero Jack Ryan get younger every year? When Ryan first made the leap to the big screen in The Hunt for Red October, he was played by Alec Baldwin. The next couple times around (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger), he was played by Harrison Ford. For The Sum of All Fears, Ford was replaced by hunky Ben Affleck. Now comes word that Paramount is looking to replace haggard old Ben Affleck with even younger Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker in the current Star Wars films) for the upcoming adaptation of Clancy's Red Rabbit. At this rate, Ryan will be played by Haley Joel Osment by the time he gets elected president.
Rainbow Six—Speaking of Tom Clancy, there's word that Hong Kong action king John Woo might be tackling an adaptation of Clancy's hit antiterrorism series Rainbow Six. Liev Schreiber, who appeared as Rainbow Six's main character John Clark in The Sum of All Fears, is apparently being considered for the lead role.
You Got Served 2—No, that's not a typo. Although the breakdancing movie is still ranked as the worst film ever made on the Internet Movie Database, it did manage to clear $40 million at the box office and was nominated for not one but two MTV Movie Awards. Naturally, writer/director/producer Chris Stokes (who also happens to manage the singing careers of the film's two stars, Omarion and Marques Houston) is working on a follow-up film. I'm thinking: You Got a Second Helping.
The Green Hornet—Kevin (Clerks) Smith might be backing out of directing his first superhero movie, The Green Hornet, for Miramax. Smith says he will still write the long-awaited film, but would rather not direct it because he's “too lazy to direct an action movie.”
