Mass Feeding—This weekend, the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill will present a sneak preview of the upcoming TromaDance New Mexico Film Festival, taking place Oct. 23 and 24. Tromadance will be presided over by Troma Films president Lloyd Kaufman (
The Toxic Avenger, Tromeo & Juliet), and will feature some the best, most outrageous genre films from New Mexico and around the country. On Saturday, Oct. 2, at midnight, the Guild will screen the Southwest premiere of
Feeding the Masses. The film is directed by New England filmmaker Richard Griffin and written by Troma regular Trent Haaga (writer of
Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger, Part IV and star of
Terror Firmer).
Feeding stars Albuquerque actor/filmmaker Billy Garberina (
The Stink of Flesh, Collecting Rooftops). The film is described as a darkly satiric horror film that takes a look at today's news media as it struggles to cover the story of the century—a mysterious plague that is bringing the dead back to life. Tickets are $7 at the door. Log on to www.burningparadise.net/TromaDanceNM.htm for more information about the upcoming festival.
