Audio/Visual Assault—From Thursday, Nov. 17, through Sunday, Nov. 19, Basement Films will present four days of “on the spot” cinema in conjunction with UNM's SouthWest Film Center. Thursday, Friday and Sunday night, the projectionists at Basement Films will be joining forces with some of our state's most unusual and experimental music acts to “explore the realms of audio/visual spectacle.” Each evening is a double feature scheduled to include a screening of short films from Basement's bottomless archive followed by an improvisational audio/visual collaboration. Among the musical acts featured are WWMD, Klabotome, Green Orbit, Fentzel Wisher and The Useless Walkers. On Saturday night, the Audio/Visual Weekend will feature the Gadabout International Film Festival. This annual touring festival features 20+ experimental short films from around the world. Advance tickets are available at Guild Cinema (3405 Central NE), Burning Paradise (800 Central SW) and SWFC (UNM's Student Union Building). One night tickets are $5 for students, $7 general admission, or $15 students, $20 general, for a four-night pass. For more info, log on to basementfilms.org.
