Reel World: Movie Memories Movie Memories

This year marks the 90th birthday of Albuquerque’s historic KiMo Theatre. As part of the yearlong celebration, community members are being asked to share their memorable KiMo moments for a chance to win great prizes and be included in a special 90th anniversary promotional video. From now until Thursday, July 20, longtime locals can submit their “Memorable Romantic Moments.” Entries can be submitted at goo.gl/FXkSYT or by mailing them to “KiMo Memorable Moments, 423 Central NW, Albuquerque NM 87102” or dropping them off directly at the KiMo Ticket Office during regular business hours. Entrants can submit no more than two memorable moments, and they must be submitted separately. A panel of judges will review all entries and select the top two stories in each category. (Look for new monthly categories throughout the rest of 2017, including “Scary” memories and “Holiday” memories.) A variety of prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners in each category. The top four winners, overall, will be placed in a final Grand Prize drawing to be held in December.

Reel World: You Say You Want A Revolution? You Say You Want A Revolution?

Numbskull Revolution, the forthcoming eighth feature from Hawaii-born, Santa Fe-based, protopunk, “undependent” auteur Jon Moritsugu (My Degeneration, Mod Fuck Explosion, Terminal USA, Pig Death Machine) is currently on the hunt for cast and crew. The low-fi, low-budget local production aims to “satirize and deconstruct the high art scene in an eyeball-scorching onslaught of mind-blowing narrative madness and honey-laced pathos.” There are still roles left for all genders and ethnicities (16 and over, please). Various behind-the-scenes crew positions are also being filled. The film will shoot in Santa Fe this July 26 through Aug. 11. If you’re interested, contact Katrina at asstapathyprod@gmail.com. For more info on the project, go to jonmoritsugu.com.
