The historic KiMo Theatre (423 Central NW) starts out the new year with a look back at some classic cinema of ages past. KiMo is launching a trilogy of film flashbacks this week, starting with “Hitchcock Hits.” Alfred Hitchcock’s 1940 romance/mystery Rebecca, starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine, kicks it off on Friday, Jan. 15, at 6pm and 8:30pm. That’s followed by 1958’s Vertigo (Jan. 22), 1954’s Rear Window (Jan. 29) and 1959’s North By Northwest (Feb. 5). Also starting this week is “Spielberg Classics.” First on deck with that series is Steven Spielberg’s 1975 blockbuster Jaws, with Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss. That plays Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 and 6pm. Come back on succeeding Saturdays for 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark (Jan. 23), 1993’s Jurassic Park (Jan. 30) and 1979’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Feb. 6). As if that weren’t enough, KiMo also adds “The Best of Bogart” series, playing Sundays at 2pm. That starts on Jan. 17 with 1946’s film noir thriller The Big Sleep. Humphrey Bogart returns in 1948’s The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (Jan. 24) and 1951’s The African Queen (Jan. 31). Tickets for each screening are $8 general admission or $6 for students and seniors. You can purchase them online in advance by going to kimotickets.com.
