European Classics is the newest film series to launch at the historic Downtown venue known as the KiMo Theatre (423 Central NW). You can catch the series starting this Thursday, June 19, with director Federico Fellini’s 1973 film Amarcord. In this semi-autobiographical film, Fellini looks back on his childhood in a magical, coastal Italian town. The series continues in July with Marcel Carné’s 1945 film Children of Paradise (July 3), Jean Cocteau’s 1946 adaptation of Beauty and the Beast (July 10), Francois Truffaut’s 1960 version of Shoot the Piano Player (July 24) and the 1992 colonial drama Indochine (July 31). All films start at 7pm. Tickets are $7 general admission, $5 students and seniors.

DRIFT is described as a “nomadic intermedia exhibition that moves to a new location every year.” The experimental media collection was founded by artist Eileen Olivieri Torpey in 2002 and will touch down this Thursday, June 19, at El Museo Cultural in Santa Fe (555 Camino de la Familia). A 1-hour video shorts program featuring underrepresented, talented artists will screen from 8:15 to 9:15pm. DRIFT is screening as part of Currents 2014, Santa Fe’s homegrown “international new media” festival, which runs through June 29. Admission to DRIFT is free, but seating is limited.

The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival is hosting a special fundraiser this Friday, June 20. There will be special screening at the CCA Cinematheque (1050 Old Pecos Tr.) of the new horror drama The Sacrament. The film, about a group of journalists trapped in a Jonestown-like cult in South America, is written and directed by hot horror auteur Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers, V/H/S). West himself will be there to introduce the 7pm showing, followed by a Q&A hosted by SFIFF director Jacques Paisner. There’s also a 9:15 showing, which will be introduced by West. Tickets for the 7pm show are $15 and include a reception with local craft beer and a chance to hobnob with West. The 9:15 show is ticketed at normal CCA prices.

Pachuco Movie Nights Under the Stars is a new event from El Chante: Casa de Cultura (804 Park SW). The art gallery/boutique is already dedicated to “Chicano, Indigenous and New Mexico cultura.” On Sunday, June 22, the art space will present a free screening of the short documentary “Beyond the Screams: History of Chicano Punk” and the 1940s-set musical drama Zoot Suit. Filmstock New Mexico, the quad-state film festival traveling from New Mexico to Colorado to Arizona to Utah makes its first stop in New Mexico on Sept. 5 and 6. This year’s festival features a special spotlight on New Mexico actors courtesy of the New Mexico Film Foundation. Organizers are looking for 10 “local personalities” to make Filmstock New Mexico come to life. These people will be asked to MC screenings, use their talents to compete for prizes and recognition, and interview guests on the red carpet. Filmstock NM will hold an open casting call for Master of Ceremonies positions on Sunday, June 29, from 1 to 3pm at Nob Hill Studios (4401 Central NW, Suite A). Winners will get passes to Filmstock, a digital download of the live event and “exposure and co-branding with Filmstock’s website and social media.”
