The 5th Annual Pueblo Film Fest lights up Albuquerque’s Indian Pueblo Cultural Center this Friday, Nov. 16, through Sunday, Nov. 18. This year’s theme is “Empowering Women Through Film,” and there will be a special emphasis on female filmmakers. The festival begins with an opening night reception featuring actor, director and writer Georgina Lightning. She will screen her 2008 feature drama Older Than America and hold a Q&A afterward. That event runs from 6 to 9:30pm. An assortment of workshops, panel discussions and film screenings continue on Saturday and Sunday. Highlights include a block of Native music videos (noon on Saturday) and a screening/Q&A for Karen Cantor’s documentary Return: Native American Women Reclaim Foodways for Health & Spirit (2:15pm, Sunday). A suggested donation of $10 gets you in the door. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is located at 2401 12th Street NW. For a complete list of events and times, go to indianpueblo.org
