What to do after Christmas Day is done? It’s a question that plagues many a parent stuck with out-of-school children over the holiday break. KiMo Theater is stepping into the debate, offering a multi-day Holiday Family Film Festival for kids, parents and other magic-minded muggles. Starting on Dec. 26 (Boxing Day to you Brits, or Kwanzaa to people who know what the heck that is), KiMo will screen every one of the Harry Potter films. What better way to spend your Christmas-to-New-Year’s break than watching Daniel Radcliffe go through puberty? Wednesday at 2 p.m. it’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. At 5 p.m. it’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Thursday at 2 p.m. it’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire follows naturally at 5 p.m. Friday brings Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at 2 p.m. and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at 5 p.m. Saturday closes it all out with (what else?) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 at 2 p.m. and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 at 5 p.m. Tickets are a mere $2 per film. You can get them at the KiMo box office or at KiMoTickets.com. Also, if you arrive in a costume based on the Harry Potter series, you receive one free popcorn from the KiMo concessions stand. How’s that for a holiday bargain?

With 2012’s box office coming to a close and 2013’s release calendar looming, New Mexicans have a number of feature films that were shot in-state over the last 356 days to look forward to. Start marking your calendars now for your chance to see New Mexico on the big screen. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s comeback film The Last Stand—with Arnie as a border town sheriff battling rampaging drug dealers—will hit theaters nationwide on Jan. 18. The Host, author Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi follow-up to Twilight, opens on March 29. The epic (not to mention expensive) adaptation of The Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp is scheduled for release on July 3. Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts and Jason Sudeikis star as a fake family trying to smuggle weed from Mexico in the comedy We’re the Millers. That hits Aug 9. 2 Guns, the Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg drug crime drama, bows on Aug. 16. That’s not a bad line-up—one that leads us to believe Hollywood sure does love shooting drug-related films in New Mexico.
