Ski bums and cinema lovers are invited to attend the screening of Warren Miller’s Timeless, hitting the KiMo Theatre (423 Central Ave. NW) on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2pm. Miller, a noted winter sports enthusiast and extreme filmmaker, stopped directing films back in 2004 and passed away in 2018. Nonetheless, outdoor documentaries bearing his official trademark still come out every year like clockwork. This year’s 70th annual film—presented by Volkswagen—features ski legends such as Glen Plake alongside newcomers including Caite Zeliff, Jaelin Kauf and Baker Boyd. This cinematic roadtrip to deep powder takes viewers from Jackson Hole, Wyo. to the Matterhorn in Switzerland. O’Niell’s Irish Pub in Nob Hill (4310 Central Ave. SE) and the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience continue with their Dinner & a Movie series on Wednesday, Dec. 11, screening the Christmas-themed romance Love Actually. First released in 2003, the film follows a cast of Londoners (Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Keira Knightley among them) as they try to find love before the holidays. On Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 2pm, the Special Collections Library (423 Central Ave. NE) presents its monthly “!Colores!” documentary double feature. First up is “Las Maravillas de Navidad.” Set to the beautiful music of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, this New Mexico PBS documentary takes a stunning photographic tour of some of our state’s most beautiful adobe churches as they prepare for the Christmas holiday—from Rancho de Taos to Chimayo. Next up is “A Southwest Christmas,” which celebrates New Mexico’s most unique Christmas traditions—from luminarias/farolitos to the procession of La Virgen de Guadalupe at Las Posadas. Admission is free and open to the public.
