Several years ago Albuquerque more or less ceded possession of homegrown improv/sketch comedy legends The Pajama Men to the world at large. Since then the men (a.k.a. Mark Chavez and Shenoah Allen) have traveled the globe, from England to Australia, delivering the gift of oddball laughter. But they’re back in Albuquerque right now, starring in a series of shows at Q Staff Theatre through Saturday, February 11. Odds are pretty good those shows are sold out. But you can still catch a dose of Pajama Men on Feb. 11 with a free screening/Q&A at the KiMo Theatre (423 Central NW) from 3 to 4 pm. Back in 2015 The Pajama Men launched a Kickstarter campaign to shoot their very own TV show pilot. The episode was filmed last year right here in Albuquerque, employing a local and international cast of actors and comedians. Now you can witness the pilot episode of the surreal sitcom “Maple Maple Town” with your own two eyes at the KiMo on Saturday. For more info, go to

The South Broadway Cultural Center celebrates Black History Month with a free screening of the award-winning film Selma. The 2014 drama chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965 when Dr. Martin Luther King organized and led the march in Selma, Ala., in support of equal voting rights for African-Americans. The march was a hallmark moment in the Civil Rights Movement, and Ava DuVernay’s movie (starring David Oyelowo as Dr. King) is an empathetic retelling of King’s struggle. The film starts at 1pm. Admission is free. So is popcorn and water! The SBCC is located at 1025 Broadway SE. For more info go to

New Mexico Film & Media Day returns to the State Legislature on Monday, Feb. 13. Founded in January 2008, the event is aimed at educating our legislators and lawmakers on the benefits of the film and media industries in New Mexico. It also offers support, opportunities and networking to people in the industry. From 8am to 4pm industry vendors and educational info tables will be set up in the Santa Fe Roundhouse’s Halls of History. At 8:30pm, there will be a mayor’s welcome breakfast at the Inn at Loretto. A press conference will be held at 12:30pm. From 1 to 4pm, there will be a “Last Round-Up” casting session for the final season of New Mexico’s beloved lawman series “Longmire.” Interested actors and background extras can use this casting session to submit their resumes and headshots for all productions currently shooting in New Mexico. The day will close out from 5 to 7pm with an exclusive legislative reception (tickets for that are $60 per person). For more info go to
