On Wednesday, March 30, KiMo Theatre (423 Central NW) will host a Tugg screening for Punk’s Dead: SLC Punk 2. This film is a sequel to the 1999 cult hit SLC Punk! and is written and directed by James Merendino, who gave us the original starring Matthew Lillard, Michael A. Goorjian, Annabeth Gish, Devon Sawa, Adam Pascal and James Duval. (Goorjian, Sawa, Pascal and Duval all make return appearances in the sequel.) This one focuses on a “punk odyssey through the Utah hinterlands” in which three young outsiders embark on a road trip to a huge punk show in Salt Lake City. The screening starts at 7:30pm. Reel World: Get In On The Act Get In On The Act

The New Mexico Actors Showcase returns this Saturday, March 26, to the South Broadway Cultural Center (1025 Broadway SE). The event was created by the New Mexico Film Foundation as an opportunity for talented local actors to show off their abilities. This live audition/performing arts event will feature 20 actors in a range of age and skill categories performing monologues with a director on stage in front of an audience. Judging will be conducted by casting directors Faith Hibbs-Clark and Deborah Baylski. Directors, producers, fellow actors and members of the general public are encouraged to attend. The Lockheed Martin DynaTheater at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science will open a new movie this weekend. Journey To Space 3D was shot in collaboration with leading space experts and details the exciting plans NASA and the space community are currently working on—such as landing astronauts on Mars. Narrated by Captain Picard himself, Patrick Stewart, and featuring interviews with NASA astronauts Chris Ferguson and Serena Auñón, the film captures the spirit of human exploration in the post-Space Shuttle era. The giant screen format film will start playing Saturday, March 25, at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Cost is $10 adults, $8 seniors and $6 children.
