You’re all probably aware of the fact that the new film Star Trek Into Darkness opens on May 10. If you can’t wait that long for a Trek fix, though, Fathom Events is having a special screening on Thursday, April 25, of the much-loved “Star Trek: The Next Generation” episode “The Best of Both Worlds.” This two-part episode (the one where Picard becomes a Borg) has been edited together and digitally restored—with new CGI effects. Audiences will also get to see special behind-the-scenes clips from the making-of documentary. The event gets underway at 7 p.m. at Rio 24, Cottonwood 16 and Downtown 14 theaters. Tickets are available at the box office or through Fathom Events.

The KiMo Theatre launches a new film series with World Cinema Classics. The series gets underway this Thursday, April 25, with Ingmar Bergman’s 1957 masterpiece Wild Strawberries. Admission is $5 for students and seniors and $7 for adults. Tickets can be purchased in advance at kimotickets.com. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Film starts at 8 p.m.

Incredible Films and local, award-winning filmmaker Christopher Michael Roybal (Descansos, Letters to Our Daughters) are casting for their upcoming feature, Beautiful Things. The drama, about a young man’s search for the most beautiful things on Earth, will begin production this spring. Producers are currently seeking females, ages 5 to 30, with acting and modeling experience. Women with “strong spiritual lifestyles and interesting-colored eyes” are especially encouraged to apply. This is not a paid gig. An open casting call will take place at the MCM Eleganté Hotel on Saturday, April 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. Applicants are encouraged to prepare a poem or prayer to recite during the audition. You can send your resume and headshot in advance to info@incrediblefilms.com. For more info, look up the film’s production page on Facebook.
