KiMo Theatre is pulling out the big guns, giving audiences a six-shooter of cult crime films with its “6 By Tarantino” series. This Quentin Tarantino-centric series loads up this Saturday, March 23, with True Romance at 6 p.m. and Reservoir Dogs at 8:30 p.m. Romance stars Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette as as a pair of star-crossed lovers on the run from violent drug dealers. Dogs was the film that put Tarantino on the map, a dazzlingly clever take on the old robbery-gone-wrong scenario. You can pick up a double-feature pass for $8 (students/seniors) or $15 (adults). Individual tickets will run you $5 (students/seniors) or $7 (adults). On March 30, the double-feature will be Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction. Following three sold-out nights at the Guild Cinema in Albuquerque, the locally shot drama Warrior Woman is heading up to Santa Fe to screen at the CCA Cinematheque. Written and directed by Julie Reichert, the film tells the story of a breast cancer survivor (Karen Young from “The Sopranos”) who heads out into the southwestern desert on a quest to clear her head of vivid and fearful dreams. Speaking of strong women, PBS’ Community Cinema is returning to the KiMo Theatre on Wednesday, March 27, for a screening of the documentary film Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines. The film, produced for PBS’s “Independent Lens” series, traces the history of female comic book characters starting with the creation of Wonder Woman in the 1940s, racing through the era of women’s liberation and finally ending up at the pop culture-filled superhero blockbusters of today. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Film starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, thanks to the fine folks at New Mexico Public Broadcasting.
