Hosts Play Musical Chairs

As you probably know, Jay Leno’s contract with NBC is slated to run out in early 2009. Leno doesn’t seem too psyched on the idea. He’s slipped a few disparaging NBC jokes into the monologue lately and seems to be entertaining the suggestion he might move to another network. (FOX and ABC have reportedly expressed an interest in the talker.) NBC, meanwhile, is moving full steam ahead with plans to boot Leno from the hosting chair at “The Tonight Show” and replace him with “Late Night” host Conan O’Brien. Now comes the rumor that former “SNL” star Jimmy Fallon will take over for O’Brien on “Late Night”–which is great news for fans of
Taxi and Fever Pitch , but not so awesome for those hoping Fallon’s “SNL” homunculus Chris Kattan would land gainful employment.

Speaking of Musical

Parents hoping they had heard the last of High School Musical should be prepared to suffer though several dozen more renditions of “Get’cha Head in the Game” as NBC has tapped former boy bander Nick Lachey to host “HSM: Summer Session.” This reality show competition will give aspiring performers a chance to show off their singing and dancing skills. (Why hasn’t anyone thought of that before?) Performers ages 16 to 22 will get their chance to “become part of High School Musical history” starting this July. By sheer coincidence, a third High School Musical film will hit theaters in October.

J.Lo Gets Real

Can’t get enough celebrities and reality? TLC is coming to your rescue by giving Jennifer Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony their own series. The show, announced at TLC’s upfront presentation in Manhattan last week, is slated to start up in the fall. Cameras will apparently follow Lopez around as she struggles to raise her newborn twins and launch her new fragrance line. Personally, I can think of few topics in this world more fascinating than Jennifer Lopez’ new fragrance line. What will it be called? What shape will the bottle take? Will it contain more or less methylbenzodioxepinone than J.Lo’s Glow, Miami Glow, Love at First Glow and Glow at Dark?

Two and a Half Semen Swabs?

CBS unveils one of the stranger Sweeps Month stunts this week as writers from “CSI” and “Two and a Half Men” switch off their respective series. The May 5 episode of “Two and a Half Men” is penned by “CSI” writers Sarah Goldfinger and Evan Dunsky from a story by “CSI” executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar. Meanwhile, the May 8 episode of “CSI” is written by Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn, executive producers/writers of “Two and a Half Men.” In “CSI,” Grissom and his gang investigate the death of a sitcom star. In “Two and a Half Men,” a CSI team gathers clues after a mysterious death at Charlie Sheen’s house. Jeez, I hope it’s not Denise Richards.
