Thursday 26

Hellraiser (AMC 6 p.m.) Clive Barker’s still-disturbing 1987 horror flick gets a seasonal airing. Followed by the not-quite-as-good Hellbound: Hellraiser II.

“Ugly Betty” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) Betty falls victim to that classic Halloween prank: inviting someone to a costume party when there’s no costume party.

Friday 27

“It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) ABC celebrates the 40 th anniversary of this animated classic. … You’d think Linus would catch a clue after all these years.

“Masters of Horror” (Showtime 8 p.m.) The second season of Showtime’s horror series debuts tonight with a loose (very loose) adaptation of the Ambrose Bierce story “The Damned Thing” by Tobe Hooper, who–sadly–has been off his game since … well, Texas Chainsaw Massacre was pretty much the high point.

“Doctor Who” (Sci-Fi 9 p.m.) If you’re a Doctor Who fan, I’ve got exciting news for you: The Cybermen are back! If you’re not a Doctor Who fan, you have no idea what I’m talking about.

Saturday 28

Pumpkinhead III: Ashes to Ashes (Sci-Fi 7 p.m.) The 1989 cult film gets a second sequel (after 1994’s Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings ). The plot hasn’t evolved much over the years, but at least we get a monster and a cameo from Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley.

Hellboy: Sword of Storms (Cartoon Network 10:30 p.m.) If you’ve been waiting patiently for the next Hellboy movie, this might provide some quick relief. It’s a feature-length animated film produced by artist Mike Mignola (who created the original comic book) and director Guillermo del Toro (who directed 2004’s theatrical version). They’ve even managed to recruit castmembers Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Doug Jones and John Hurt to do voicework. Not too shabby.

Sunday 29

“America’s Funniest Home Videos: Halloweenies” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) Just a guess here, but I bet you’re going to see a lot of videos of unhappy pets in costumes. What could be funnier?

Secrets of Hidden Lake (Lifetime 8 p.m.) TV standby Rena Sofer (“Blind Justice,” “Just Shoot Me!” “Ed,” “Melrose Place”) stars as a woman who returns to her home in Colorado only to discover that her father’s “hunting accident” was no accident. Mmmm. Mysterious.

Monday 30

“The Animal Extractors” (National Geographic 8 p.m.) Need an alligator removed from your kitchen? A raccoon excised from your attic? A bear bounced from your bedroom? A gerbil yanked from your … well, you get the point. These are the guys to call, apparently.

Tuesday 31

See “Idiot Box” above.

Wednesday 1

“The Rich List” (KASA-2 9 p.m.) You know what TV needs? Another lame prime time gameshow. In this one, teams of strangers compete to win money by filling in lists like “hit singles by ABBA” or “states with a coastline.”
